Khaberni - While there is no direct agreement between Apple and SpaceX regarding internet connection via Starlink satellites, a new report highlights two reasons that are likely to change this situation in the future.
There may also be changes in the components of the anticipated iPhone 18 Pro to be launched next year, according to a report by "The Information".
The report revealed some new details that might indicate a future where all iPhones work with Starlink satellites.
SpaceX supports the same radio frequency band used by Apple for current satellite communication features in iPhones, offered by Globalstar, in its new Starlink satellite designs.
Apple relies on "Globalstar" satellites to run the "SOS" emergency feature via satellite in the iPhone 14 series and newer versions, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra 3. This feature allows communication with emergency services and location sharing when outside of traditional cellular coverage.
Furthermore, Globalstar’s Chairman, James Monroe, discussed his desire to sell the company for $10 billion. The report suggests that such a deal could indicate that "Globalstar" and "Apple" strive for more independence from each other.
It was previously said that "Apple" declined to make a deal with "SpaceX" to provide it with Starlink satellite communication service for iPhones.
Apple plans to add support in the upcoming iPhones starting next year for 5G networks not tied to the ground, which includes satellites.
Currently, SpaceX provides an independent Starlink service for homes and vehicles, in addition to limited connection through "T-Satellite" service by "T-Mobile".
