Oil jumps 5 following new US sanctions on Russia

Khaberni - Oil prices rose to 5%, registering the highest level in two weeks on Thursday after the United States imposed sanctions on two major Russian oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, due to the war in Ukraine, prompting energy companies in China and India to consider reducing their crude imports from Russia.

Brent crude futures climbed $3.40, or 5.4%, to settle at $65.99, while American West Texas Intermediate crude jumped $3.29, or 5.6%, to settle at $61.79.

The futures for both oils recorded the largest daily percentage gain since mid-June, and the highest performance at settlement since October 8th.
