Khaberni - US President Donald Trump told Time magazine that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a severe tactical error with his attack on Qatar, confirming that Netanyahu would have continued the war on the Gaza Strip for years but he stopped it.
Trump considered the Israeli attack on Qatar on September 9 "so strange that it forced everyone to do what they had to do".
It is noted that Israel bombed the residential headquarters of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Doha, resulting in the martyrdom of 5 Palestinians and one member of the Qatari internal security.
Trump confirmed in his statements to Time magazine that the war in Gaza has ended and Netanyahu must accept the agreement, but he issued a warning to Hamas saying, "It will face big trouble if it does not adhere to the ceasefire agreement." And that his country "will intervene if Hamas refuses to disarm."
In a related matter, Trump announced that he would make the decision himself regarding the possibility of Israel releasing the imprisoned leader in the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) Marwan Barghouti to lead Gaza after the war.
Annexing the West Bank
Regarding the Israeli parliament's (Knesset) preliminary approval of the annexation of the occupied West Bank, Trump said that Israel would lose all US support if it went ahead with this decision. And he confirmed that the annexation of the West Bank will not happen "because I promised the Arab countries it wouldn’t happen."
In this context, US Vice President JD Vance said that the West Bank would not be annexed to Israel, and that he felt personally insulted by the bill that the Knesset ratified in the preliminary reading to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
Vance added in a press conference today, Thursday, during his visit to Israel that the bill was a "stupid political stunt," and that "it contradicts Israel’s commitments toward the peace process and international agreements."
The US Vice President confirmed that Washington’s message to the Israelis was clear, which was the necessity to maintain the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and not to take any unilateral steps that could reignite tensions.
Vance's statements come a day after the Knesset, with a majority of 25 votes against 24 opponents, ratified a bill to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir welcomed the vote, saying that "the time has come to impose sovereignty over the West Bank", while the Likud party - which leads the ruling coalition - described the law as "showy" and damaging to relations with Washington.
