Khaberni - Actress Elham Shaheen explained the behind-the-scenes of what occurred behind the camera, in her first response to the controversy stirred by the video that spread through social media. In the video, she appeared laughing with actress Hala Sedki while actress Loblooba talked about the late director Youssef Shaheen during a tribute session at the 2025 El Gouna Film Festival.
Shaheen confirmed to "et in Arabic" that what happened was a spontaneous situation unrelated to Loblooba, noting that the conversation between her and Sedki was completely off the topic of the symposium. She explained that she was telling her colleague that she needed to go to the restroom due to the length of the session, and Sedki jokingly responded that they were close to finishing, before joking again, saying: "Hold on a little longer until the session ends," which made them laugh together.
She added that the gesture she made towards actress Yousra was also in a joking context, as she was asking her to end the session quickly so she could leave, affirming that the situation did not involve any excesses or offense to anyone, but was merely a joke between two friends during a long session.
Speaking about her relationship with actress Loblooba, she said: "Loblooba is a dear friend and a long-time partner in the art scene. I have a great relationship of respect and love with her, and she fully knows her special place in my life."
Shaheen criticized the wave of comments that accompanied the video's spread, indicating that some people interpret things with malintent and try to create problems that don't exist between artists. She confirmed that the art scene enjoys strong and friendly relations among its stars, and that such situations cannot stir disputes among them.
She concluded her statement by insisting that some people deliberately "stir up trouble in muddy waters," as she put it, and she added, "Some people always try to tarnish the image of artists and create crises without reason."
