Khaberni - The family of the late artist Abdul Halim Hafez revealed for the first time a personal note that accompanied him throughout his illness, and never left his side.
Last night, Sunday, the family posted on their Facebook account a handwritten note by "the Dark Nightingale" that included a collection of prayers and Quranic verses, which had accompanied him during his period of illness and treatment.
The family also confirmed that this note held great spiritual value for the Nightingale, as he used to always keep it under his pillow or in his pocket during his travels for treatment abroad, and even during his hospital stay.
The note included several chapters and verses, such as Al-Fatiha and Ayat al-Kursi, as well as a collection of prayers.
The family explained that publishing this note came after insistence from Abdul Halim’s fans to reveal new things about him that had not been seen before.
The family also confirmed that "Halim loved to read the Quran regularly in the evening," and that "his voice when reading the Quran was many times sweeter than when he sang."
Abdul Halim Hafez is considered one of the most important symbols of Arab singing in the twentieth century, who presented romantic and patriotic songs in a new style at the time.
He was born on June 21, 1929, in the village of Al-Halawat in the Sharqia Governorate in Egypt, but his parents died when he was young, so he moved to live with his relatives and his singing talent appeared early on.
However, he suffered throughout his life from schistosomiasis and its complications, until he died on March 30, 1977, in London after a long struggle with the disease.
But despite his early departure, he is still considered a cultural icon in the Arab intuition.
