Mohamed Salah in the Shortlist for the 2025 Best Player in Africa Award


Khaberni - Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Liverpool's striker, tops the shortlist of nominees for the 2025 Best Player Award, announced by the Confederation of African Football "CAF".

Mohamed Salah was crowned the top scorer of the English Premier League last season, with 29 goals, marking the fourth time in his career to lead "the Reds" to the local title for the first time since 2020.


Salah will compete for the award with among others, Viston Mayele, star of the Egyptian club Pyramids, who led his team to win the African Champions League and the continental super cup.

Also on the list is Denis Bouanga from the Los Angeles team, the second top scorer in the American league behind Argentine Lionel Messi, captain of Inter Miami.

Alongside them, Cameroonian Frank Anguissa from Napoli, champions of Italy, Moroccan Achraf Hakimi who won the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain, and his compatriot Osama Mellouli, star of RS Berkane, champions of the Confederation.

In the same context, Guinean Sérgio Guirassy from Borussia Dortmund, the Senegalese duo Pape Sarr from Tottenham Hotspur and Elimane Ndiaye from Everton, and Nigerian Victor Osimhen from Galatasaray, champions of the Turkish league are present.

Best Player within Africa:

In terms of the award for the best African player on the continent, Egyptian Imam Ashour from Al Ahly, champions of Egypt, and four from African champion Pyramids including Burkinabe Blati Toure, Moroccan Mohamed Chibi, Ibrahim Adel, and Viston Mayele are present.

In the list also appear Mohamed Harmat and Osama Mellouli from RS Berkane and Burkinabe Issoufou Dayo.

Alongside these, appears Ismail Belkasemi from USM Alger and Shomari Kapombe, full-back at Tanzanian's Simba.
