Khaberni - The Parliamentary Central Parties Union bloc, chaired by His Excellency Deputy Captain Zuhair Mohammad Al-Khashman, held an extensive meeting at the House of Representatives attended by the Minister of Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Azmi Governorate, to discuss the most prominent educational and university issues affecting public opinion and involving hundreds of thousands of students and teachers across various governorates of the kingdom.
At the beginning of the meeting, Captain Zuhair Al-Khashman emphasized that education reform is the key to national development, and that the current stage requires bold decisions to restore confidence in educational institutions and link outputs to the labor market needs, pointing out that the bloc will remain supportive of every initiative that contributes to the development of this vital sector.
The meeting addressed several pivotal axes, among them the technical pathway system (BTEC), where the deputies of the bloc highlighted the weak infrastructure and the absence of necessary practical equipment in both industrial and health tracks, which limits the effectiveness of this system in remote provinces, affirming the need for a comprehensive national plan to provide the necessary equipment and qualified staff.
Regarding the Student Support Fund file, and the need to consider the humanitarian and economic aspects in dealing with the issues of seizing properties of parents, calling for middle-ground solutions that preserve the rights of both the state and the citizen.
The bloc also expressed its total rejection of what happened at the University of Jordan in terms of final expulsion of several students, affirming that it is not against the principle of punishment, but against exaggerated punishments that end the future of students, calling for a review of these decisions in line with the values of justice and fairness within the university campus.
The meeting also touched upon several administrative and legislative files, including:
The problem of purchasing user services for 10 days per month, considering this procedure a violation of the Social Security Law and a reduction of the rights of employees.
The necessity of appointing school administrators from assistants to directors based on clear and fair criteria.
Reviewing the terms of appointment at the ministry and the mechanism of interviews and special courses for promoting teachers after passing the interviews.
Demanding flexibility from the ministry regarding the condition of overseas residence for postgraduate students, ensuring it does not harm their academic path.
The retirement file for teachers and employees, especially those who are promoted just days before their retirement, which deprives them of fairly benefiting from their employment rights.
Utilizing land in Tafaila neighborhood to build a new school that serves the children of the area and alleviates the existing congestion in the current schools.
Proposing the adoption of a unified university entrance exam as a gradual alternative to the current general secondary education system, ensuring fairness and assessment of students' actual capabilities.
At the end of the meeting, Captain Zuhair Mohammad Al-Khashman requested His Excellency Dr. Azmi Governorate for the ministry to officially respond to all points and observations raised during the meeting through a letter directed to the bloc, with the aim of monitoring implementation and determining practical steps to address the issues raised.
And Captain Zuhair Al-Khashman affirmed that the bloc will follow up with Minister Governorate all the issues raised to ensure their practical and fair resolution, emphasizing that education is the state's investment in its future, and its advancement requires genuine cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities, and a comprehensive reform vision that restores the citizen's confidence in Jordanian schools and universities as institutions of knowledge, justice, and equal opportunities.
