Khaberni - The discussion session organized by the National Center for Human Rights, today Wednesday, on the impact of stray dogs on human rights, concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at finding practical and sustainable solutions to address this phenomenon.
The speakers in the session, attended by the General Commissioner of the Center, Jamal Al-Shamayleh, and the Protection Commissioner, Dr. Nahla Al-Momani, emphasized the importance of establishing shelters for stray dogs, sterilizing and vaccinating them, and opening veterinary clinics in the regions of the kingdom alongside implementing a unified and specific national plan with a timeline to combat the presence of stray dogs with the participation of relevant authorities and animal welfare organizations.
They recommended the implementation of a national sterilization program to limit the proliferation of stray dogs and to launch awareness campaigns in all provinces to highlight the risks of the phenomenon and the necessity of humane treatment of animals.
They called for monitoring and documenting the numbers of stray dogs and identifying the most dangerous areas by forming specialized committees in municipalities and improving waste management, especially near schools, in addition to enhancing coordination between official entities, civil society institutions, and animal welfare organizations to ensure the implementation of solutions based on respect for human rights and animal welfare.
