Khaberni - A woman from the suburbs of Moscow nearly paid with her life for cooking a weever fish (liche).
The 64-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with alarming symptoms including severe swelling and blueness in her left arm, along with a burning sensation and numbness in her fingers. The astonishing truth is that this injury was caused by an attempt to prepare an unusual dinner, where her son brought home a weever fish, and during the cleaning process, the mother accidentally stabbed herself with a poisonous spine from the fish's tail.
The mother was unaware that the spine of the weever fish contains potent venom that can cause muscle spasms, paralysis, and a severe drop in blood pressure, and can in some cases lead to death.
Thanks to urgent medical intervention, the patient received an antidote to the venom and a suitable treatment program, which contributed to a noticeable improvement in her health and the disappearance of the symptoms. She has been discharged from the hospital to continue her recovery at home.
