Minister of Transport Directs Enhancement of Field Work to Improve Quality of Road Transport

Khaberni - Transport Minister Dr. Nidal Al-Qatamin directed the staff of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority to enhance field work to monitor the services provided to citizens and operators on the ground, and to directly address the challenges and obstacles, ensuring practical and quick solutions that positively reflect on the quality of services in various provinces of the kingdom.
This came during his chairing of a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, which was dedicated to discussing a number of issues related to the land transport sector in all its forms, and reviewing the current procedures to develop the level of services and improve their performance.
Al-Qatamin emphasized the importance of field work being a permanent approach for the authority, and that decisions should be built on an accurate realistic diagnosis, reflecting the needs of both citizens and operators, stressing that the main goal is to improve public service and facilitate safe and organized transport movement.
The minister called for encouraging workers in the sector to integrate into organized companies, in order to enhance service quality, develop it, and raise efficiency and safety levels.
He also emphasized the activation of the complaints department in the authority and enhancing communication with citizens to hear their opinions and observations, in addition to activating the accidents department and coordinating with relevant bodies such as the Traffic Department, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Public Security Department, to find effective solutions that contribute to reducing road accidents and improving traffic safety standards.
During the meeting, the council discussed the instructions that will regulate the operation of smart applications, which will be issued under the new system recently approved, aiming to regulate this vital sector and ensure equal opportunities among operators, and to achieve the highest standards of safety and quality in transport services through applications. The minister affirmed that these instructions must take into account technological developments and market requirements, while safeguarding the rights of workers and beneficiaries alike.
Al-Qatamin directed to urgently review the legislative and regulatory frameworks governing the land transport sector, with the aim of addressing any overlaps or gaps that might cause legal or administrative chaos, ensuring clarity of roles and integration of efforts among all related entities.
The minister indicated that the coming period will witness enhanced institutional integration between the authority and other transport sector institutions, to achieve a unified national vision focused on developing the service, enhancing the efficiency of operators, and improving the infrastructure of land transport in the kingdom, noting that the citizen is the focal point of the work in the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, and that improving public transport services represents a fundamental cornerstone in supporting economic and social development, facilitating the movement of individuals and goods, and enhancing the quality of life in all regions of the kingdom.
