Khaberni - The Information Technology students at the Middle East University have achieved a new milestone by securing the third place in the "Beyond Limits" hackathon, which took place during the open day activities of the IEEE branch at Amman Arab University, under the theme "Puzzle of Possibilities".

The hackathon was dedicated to innovating technological solutions in the fields of software and hardware to support and empower people with disabilities and enhance their integration into society through leveraging technology to overcome daily challenges they face.

The event witnessed a high-level competition among 72 teams from various Jordanian universities, among which were eight teams representing the Information Technology College at the Middle East University.

Six teams qualified for the final round, including the "ReAbility" team represented by students Taqi Al-Harini and Sajida Badawi, who managed to secure the third place for their innovative project aimed at converting brain electrical signals from non-verbal individuals into spoken words.

The project relies on integrating a brainwave sensor with a smartphone, where the signals are analyzed through artificial intelligence algorithms and converted into spoken voice, thus facilitating communication and enhancing independence for people with disabilities.
