The latest Instagram update makes the company review your photos before you upload them

Khaberni - Meta's AI, the owner of platforms such as "Instagram," "Facebook," and "WhatsApp," can now search through the images stored on the phone to find the best ones that deserve to be shared and are likely to appeal to users, according to a report published by "The Verge" tech site.

The new feature allows the AI to examine all photos whether they have been shared on the platform or not, and the company says that the feature searches for hidden gems in your photos among screenshots and other images randomly stored on your phone, then suggests a series of edits to the photos before you post them on the platform.

The report indicates that the company tested this feature in July, and when it faced a range of criticisms, it officially confirmed that the feature only concerned photos that had been shared on the platform.

The platform also uses these images to train its AI model to generate more realistic images, if you choose to edit the photos or share them on the platform, according to the company's statement.

The new update automatically activates this feature, and it can be turned off by going to the app settings and deactivating it manually.

Meta spokesperson Mary Milgizo avoided answering a question from "The Verge" regarding the AI's access to the photos stored in the phone that have not been shared on the platform.

The report adds that "Meta" selects a number of photos found in your phone's log, then uploads them to the company's servers periodically, and retains these images for no more than 30 days before deleting them, and these photos will not be used in targeted advertising.

It is noted that "Meta" announced last year that it has used photos and posts on the platform since 2007 to train its AI models.
