Khaberni - Tesla has added a new feature to its controversial safety record for its electric vehicles.
The latest update to the company's Full Self-Driving system introduces a mode called "Mad Max" which, the company says, "features higher speeds and more frequent lane changes" compared to the "Hurry" mode in the system.
This feature is not new; it has been part of the autonomous driving mode since 2018, which preceded the Full Self-Driving system.
Within 24 hours of reintroducing the "Mad Max" mode, it was already observed overtaking stop signs and driving more than 24 km/h above the speed limit, according to a report by "Electrek" that was reviewed by "Al Arabiya Business".
This comes at a critical time for the company as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the United States has opened an investigation this month into the company’s Full Self-Driving system after receiving more than 50 reports of traffic violations, in addition to several accidents.
This is not the first time Tesla's Full Self-Driving system has been in the regulatory crosshairs.
Tesla's decision to reintroduce the "Mad Max" mode at this time is seen as reflecting a kind of arrogance on the part of the company.
