Khaberni - Today, Sunday, the Cabinet approved an amended system for the road traffic service fees for the year 2025; this completes the necessary legislative procedures for the operation of alternative roads in the Kingdom, following the Ministry of Public Works and Housing’s announcement at the end of last August about starting investments in them. Their use will be optional alongside the main roads.
The system provides a legislative environment to encourage partnership between the public and private sectors in projects for the development and operation of alternative roads, thereby enhancing execution efficiency and improving service levels, and reducing traffic congestion through organized use of the alternative road and effective traffic management.
Moreover, the alternative roads contribute to stimulating local economic development in areas adjacent to the new road, by improving access and attracting investments.
