Increase in staff at Princess Basma Hospital from 1241 to 1697 since its opening

Khaberni - Walid Al-Halabi, the director of Princess Basma Hospital, said that the hospital has witnessed an increase in human resources after its opening, with 456 among doctors, nurses, and other staff, reflecting the Ministry of Health's commitment to supporting the new hospital to improve the health services provided to the citizens in Irbid governorate.

Al-Halabi explained in a statement on Thursday that the total number of staff in the hospital has risen since its inauguration on January 20, 2026, from 1241 employees to 1697 employees, after the appointment of 456 new employees, with an increase rate of about 37%, which reflects a notable expansion in various medical, health, and administrative specializations.

Regarding the nursing staff, he clarified that the number of nurses increased from 386 to 723 nurses, with a total increase of about 87%, after appointing 268 nurses and supporting the hospital with 35 additional nurses, along with achieving an actual increase by 44 nurses; following the approval of an additional allowance for 220 nurses.

He added that it is planned to appoint 150 additional nurses next month after conducting a competitive examination for the purpose of appointment; which will enhance the nursing capacity and improve the quality of health care.

As for the specialized medical staff, he mentioned that the number of specialists and consultants has increased from 135 to 156, with an increase rate of about 16%, after the appointment of 21 consultants and specialists in all specializations, including ones that were not available in the old hospital.

The number of resident doctors has also increased from 267 to 317 doctors, with an increase rate of about 20%, as a result of the hospital being supported by 50 resident doctors.

Regarding the general practitioners, there were initially 16 general doctors, and 29 doctors have been appointed, bringing the total to 45 doctors, with an increase rate of about 180%.

He affirmed that these increases come within the framework of ongoing support from the Ministry of Health, and under direct instructions from the Minister of Health, Ibrahim Al-Badour, who is keen on enhancing the capabilities of Princess Basma Hospital and providing it with the necessary health, medical, and administrative staff.

Al-Halabi added that the hospital has been equipped with the latest medical devices according to approved standards, which contributes to improving diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectiveness, and enhances the hospital's ability to provide comprehensive and safe health care services.

He explained that the hospital, in coordination with the ministry, is working on increasing the number of staff, especially the specialized ones; in order to develop its health services, in line with the best medical practices and respond to the needs of citizens efficiently and with high quality.
