Egypt Calls for Starting the Implementation of Gaza Reconstruction Plans

Khaberni - Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty conducted "intensive contacts" with his counterparts in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Canada to discuss the reconstruction of Gaza according to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Sunday that these "intense contacts and diplomatic movements led by Egypt to coordinate international efforts on the reconstruction of Gaza sector" have been conducted, indicating that Abdel Aaty discussed the file over the phone with each of Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Italy; José Manuel Albares, Foreign Minister of Spain; Johann Wadephul, Foreign Minister of Germany; and Anita Anand, Foreign Minister of Canada.

These discussions covered "the preparations currently underway for Egypt to host the international conference on early recovery, reconstruction, and development in Gaza," while the Egyptian minister emphasized "the necessity to begin implementing early recovery and reconstruction plans in Gaza as soon as possible, in a comprehensive vision that preserves the rights of the Palestinian people, in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction and President Donald Trump's peace plan in the Middle East," according to the statement.

The ministry noted that "the foreign ministers of the four countries expressed their appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role in supporting regional stability, and their eagerness to continue coordination with Cairo regarding the files related to early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza and in the framework of preparations for the international conference that Egypt plans to host in November."

Yesterday, Abdel Aaty stated that immediate negotiations should begin for the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement regarding the Gaza sector, following the success in stopping the war, mentioning that coordination is currently underway to quickly organize the international conference for the reconstruction of the Gaza sector, confirming that many countries have requested to participate in and sponsor the conference.

The minister revealed an update on the reconstruction plan coordinated with the Palestinian government, following the completion of assessing the extent of the damage and losses, explaining that the priority will be in the reconstruction process to remove explosives and debris to facilitate the entry of aid.

He clarified that Egypt aims to hold the conference in the third or fourth week of November next to implement the Arab-Islamic plan and President Donald Trump's plan.
