Khaberni - A teacher in Massachusetts, USA, met her demise after being assaulted inside a therapeutic school designed for teenagers facing behavioral and psychological disorders.
The district attorney's office in Bristol County confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening at "Meadow Ridge Academy" in Swansea, when the teacher tried to stop a 14-year-old student attempting to leave the dormitory building without permission.
The investigations clarified that the teacher "Amy Morel", 53 years old, tried to restrain the student to calm her down, but the latter delivered a strong kick to her chest, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
According to the "People" newspaper, the school staff immediately began CPR procedures before the emergency teams arrived, who transported Morel to a nearby hospital, where her death was pronounced the following day.
The authorities mentioned that the student was investigated and charged with "assault causing serious bodily injury", while her identity has not been disclosed due to her young age, and the school administration confirmed its full cooperation with the security authorities in following up on the case.
The school administration mourned the late teacher, describing her as a committed member of the direct care staff for the students of the school, and announced the provision of psychological support and assistance services for the students and staff affected by the incident.
Information published on social media indicated that Morel lived in Riverside, Rhode Island, and graduated from the University of Maine.
The school is managed by a nonprofit organization known as the "Justice Resource Institute" and offers therapeutic and educational programs for a limited number of students facing complex psychological and behavioral traumas.
