Israel confirms receipt of hostages body through the Red Cross

Khaberni - The Israeli military reported on Friday evening that the Red Cross had received the body of a hostage, where the coffin of one of the deceased hostages will be transferred to its custody."

The statement added: "The Israeli army urges the public to exercise sensitivity and wait for official verification of the identity of the body, which will be first delivered to the family."

The statement emphasized that "Hamas must adhere to the agreement and take the necessary steps to return all deceased hostages."

Hamas had announced on Friday that it would hand over a hostage's body to Israel later that night, having previously committed to handing over all bodies of the hostages and adhering to a ceasefire agreement.

Under the ceasefire agreement, brokered prominently by US President Donald Trump, Hamas returned 20 living hostages and the remains of nine out of 28 hostages who were killed, alongside another body that Israel said was not a former hostage.

In return, the Israeli side released about two thousand Palestinian prisoners from its prisons and ceased the military operation that began in Gaza since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
