Nobel Peace Prize Winner Supports Israel in Phone Call with Netanyahu

Khaberni - The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Friday that Venezuelan opposition leader and recent Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado expressed her support for Israel during a phone call with Netanyahu.

The office added in a statement that Machado "welcomed the return of the Israeli hostages, as part of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and expressed her appreciation for Israel's efforts against Iran, which she described as posing a threat to both countries."

Netanyahu congratulated Machado on her Nobel Prize win, and commended her efforts to promote democracy and peace.

Machado had previously committed to relocating the Venezuelan embassy in Israel to Jerusalem if her movement came to power, thereby joining other Latin American leaders who have taken pro-Israel stances, including Argentine President Javier Milei and former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
