Khaberni - Palestinian sources reported the death of a child due to severe cold in Mawasi Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, raising the death toll from the severe weather depression to 13 people, confirmed by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex stated that the sector suffers from a severe shortage of heating means, calling for "the urgent introduction of caravans and safe heating means to combat the severe cold wave."
He also revealed that about 55% of essential medicines are currently unavailable in health facilities, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
He described the humanitarian situation as catastrophic, saying, "The children of Gaza are collectively subjected to killing by tanks, cold, and disease," referring to the confluence of the climatic disaster with the ongoing difficult security and health conditions.
This comes amid the intensifying suffering of the displaced, after circulating video clips yesterday showed the moment when fierce winds uprooted tents of the displaced in the sector, due to the intense weather depression "Bairon" hitting the area hard.
