US Judiciary Charges Former Trump Advisor John Bolton

Khaberni - Several American media outlets reported that a grand jury in Maryland near Washington has indicted John Bolton, former National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump during his first term, for unlawfully retaining and sending classified information.

John Bolton (76 years old) has become the third figure targeted by the Republican billionaire with charges directed at him since his return to the White House.

Bolton was charged in an investigation concerning the illegal retention and dissemination of classified information.

The investigation into Bolton, who served for more than a year in Trump's first administration before being fired in 2019, came to the public in August when the FBI searched his home in Maryland and his office in Washington looking for secret records he may have retained from his years of service in the government.

The indictment, consisting of 18 charges, outlines the path of a forthcoming legal case centered around a prominent figure in the Republican Party’s foreign policy circles, known for his hawkish views on American power, and who emerged after leaving Trump's first administration as a vocal and outspoken critic of the president.

For his part, Bolton denied any wrongdoing, stating that the charges are part of "Trump's efforts to intimidate" the opposition.
