Khaberni - Professor Dr. Rami Abdel Rahim, President of Petra University, participated in the QS Arab Forum hosted by Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman, with wide participation from higher education experts, leaders of Arab universities, academics, researchers, and policymakers, under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The forum focuses on presenting the results of the QS Arab Rankings for 2026, in addition to discussing best practices and challenges facing the higher education sector in the region, through scientific sessions and specialized workshops. The forum also covered several main topics including academic innovation, quality of education, international partnerships, scientific research, and academic reputation, as well as highlighting emerging trends such as hybrid education and technology in higher education.
The forum provides participants with the opportunity to network and exchange experiences with their peers from academic and industrial institutions, and to explore mechanisms for developing academic and administrative performance, alongside building new partnerships that contribute to enhancing the status of Arab universities on the global stage.
Additionally, the President of Petra University, accompanied by the participating delegation, visited Sultan Qaboos University, where he met with His Highness Dr. Fahd bin Al Jalanda Al Said, President of the University. The visit included a tour of the main library to learn about the most important facilities and departments, a visit to the College of Science garden, and an overview of some of the most prominent facilities within the university campus and an understanding of the scientific, academic, and diverse services offered by the university. The participants also watched a visual presentation about the university in the Fahm Lecture Hall at the University Cultural Center, attended by Professor Dr. Salem bin Hamoud Al Harthi, Vice-President of the University for Academic Affairs and Community Service, and Dr. Ghazi bin Ali Al Rawas, Dean of Scientific Research.
