Khaberni - The UAE has decided to hold the rain prayer tomorrow, Friday, in all the state's mosques, following the directives of the President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat announced that this prayer will be held on Friday, October 17, in coordination with the Emirates Fatwa Council, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, and the Department of Islamic Affairs in Sharjah.
Dr. Omar Habtour Al Darei, head of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat, expressed appreciation for the President’s directive, affirming that this decision reflects the commitment to the Prophetic traditions and the mercy towards people and creatures.
The Authority has taken all necessary arrangements for this occasion, where a circular has been issued to all mosques and their imams to prepare a suitable environment for the worshippers, and to provide an atmosphere of reverence and tranquility, encouraging community members to participate in this prayer to attain reward and blessings, and to seek Allah Almighty to send down blessed rain that enriches goodness and blessing.
On its part, the Emirates Fatwa Council explained that the rain prayer is a Prophetic tradition performed with two units followed by a sermon without using a pulpit, noting that it has launched a series of educational and Fatwa-related initiatives concerning this prayer, including the explanation of traditional supplications and rulings of the rain prayer, in cooperation with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Zakat, as well as raising awareness through jurisprudential and Fatwa publications on the council's official platforms.
