Khaberni - In a bold move that sparked widespread controversy, the animal rights organization "PETA" launched a new campaign targeting British actress and model Katie Price, through designing a frightening "Halloween" costume that mimics her character, alluding to what the organization described as the "grim fate" that pets met under her care.
The costume, priced at £54.99, portrays a version of "Katie" as the Grim Reaper, equipped with a mask resembling her features and a jacket bearing a satirical slogan and a small coffin filled with animal figurines, alongside a silver and black scythe to complete the "terrifying" scene, according to "The Sun".
Online petition
PETA posted a picture of the costume on their Instagram account, coinciding with the launch of an online petition demanding that Katie Price be barred from owning animals in the future, following a series of tragic incidents that befell her pets over the past few years.
Mimi Bekhechi, Vice President of the organization in the UK and Europe, said: "This Halloween costume may be a joke, but the message is not. A very large number of animals have lost their lives under the care of Katie Price, and taking care of animals is a huge responsibility, and those who do not realize this should stick to stuffed toys."
The organization added that proceeds from the costume sales will be allocated to support animal adoption and spaying initiatives, as part of its efforts to address the crisis of overcrowded homeless animals.
Widespread criticism.. and a terrifying history
Katie Price, aged 46, faces repeated criticisms for her handling of animals, where her home has witnessed repeated tragic incidents, including the death of several of her dogs after being involved in road accidents on the A24 near her home in East Sussex, in addition to the death of her horse in a similar accident, and the death of her French bulldog "Rollo" who choked under a chair in 2020.
Price was also forced to give up her Alsatian dog "Bear" after it attacked other animals, and later sparked a new wave of outrage when pictures were published showing her dog "Rocky" hanging out of a moving car window.
Despite this controversy, Katie recently revealed via Snapchat that a new puppy had joined her home, ensuring that it never leaves her side, which has sparked additional criticisms from her followers who wondered: "How are you still allowed to own animals?"
While some see the campaign against Katie as "harsh" and exaggerated, others consider it a necessary outcry against celebrities who treat animals as a trend or a means of entertainment.
