AlMaytah Directs Continued Intensive Campaigns Against Drug Traffickers Dens

Khaberni - The Director of Public Security, Major General Obaidallah Al-Maytah, conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the personnel of the Anti-Narcotics Department, and His Majesty's pride in their dedicated efforts and significant achievements in combating the drug menace and protecting the community from its devastating risks.

Major General Al-Maytah, during his visit to the department on Wednesday and his meeting with its director and staff, confirmed that the Public Security Directorate gives top priority to the anti-drugs file, and works to mobilize all resources to enhance field and intelligence efforts aimed at eliminating the sources of this scourge and drying up its supply channels.

He noted that the successes achieved during the past period were the result of high synergy and coordination between the security agencies and the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army, appreciating the level of cooperation and partnership in confronting smuggling networks and drug trafficking across borders.

He pointed out that these efforts continue against drugs that target national security and the stability of society, directing the continuation of intensive security campaigns against drug dealers and promoters in various regions of the kingdom, with full force and determination, to strike the smugglers' dens and thwart their criminal plans.

He called for intensifying the awareness and educational efforts conducted by the department alongside fieldwork, stressing that prevention represents the first line of defense in confronting this scourge, and that involving citizens in awareness is a fundamental pillar in building a community awareness deterrent against the poisons of drugs.

Major General Al-Maytah valued the distinguished efforts made by the Addiction Treatment Center affiliated with the department in caring for and rehabilitating those who have fallen victim to abuse, within a safe and confidential therapeutic environment that preserves their right to recovery and return to normal life, making it a national model encouraging treatment without hesitation or fear.

He also praised the measurable achievement rates within the national strategy for drug prevention (2024–2026), launched by the Public Security Directorate in line with royal directives, aiming to enhance national partnership and integrate efforts to protect society and secure its safety.

Major General Al-Maytah listened to a briefing presented by the director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, which included an overview of the department’s efforts in security, awareness, and treatment fields, criminal statistics, and developmental plans aimed at enhancing performance efficiency and enhancing the capabilities of personnel in confronting the drug menace.
