He will demand Assads custody AlShara visits Moscow on Wednesday

Khaberni - "Syria TV," the state broadcaster, and an informed source said today, Tuesday, that the interim Syrian President, Ahmad Al-Shara, will visit Moscow on Wednesday, despite the postponement of an Arab summit he was supposed to attend in the Russian capital.

An official Syrian source revealed that Al-Shara is scheduled to discuss the continuation of the Russian naval base in Tartus and its air base in Hmeimim.

The source added that Al-Shara will also formally request Russia to hand over the former Syrian President, Bashar Al-Assad, a Russian ally, for trial on "crimes against the Syrians."

Al-Shara, who led al-Qaeda’s branch in Syria, led the armed opposition to Damascus in December and formed a new government. Bashar al-Assad fled the capital and obtained asylum in Russia.

Since then, Moscow has sought to maintain its relations with the new Syrian authorities, including diplomatic support for Damascus against Israeli attacks on Syria. In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shiban in Moscow, who visited Russia for the first time since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria.
