Lewandowski Joins Barcelonas Injury List

Khaberni - Polish veteran striker Robert Lewandowski has joined Barcelona’s injury list, threatening his participation in the "Clásico" against arch-rival Real Madrid at the end of this month, according to what the Spanish football league champion announced.

Barcelona stated in a brief statement on Tuesday, "The player Robert Lewandowski suffers from a muscle tear in the biceps femoris of his left thigh," without specifying the duration of his absence from the fields. However, Spanish media reported that the 37-year-old, whom his German coach Hansi Flick tried to protect from such injuries by resting him in several matches, could be sidelined for between four to six weeks.

This means he will miss the next league match against Catalan neighbor Girona on Saturday, then the Champions League match against Greek Olympiacos on Tuesday, in addition to possibly missing the league "Clásico" against Real Madrid on the 26th of this month.

Barcelona is already missing a number of key players due to injury, including Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, and Brazilian Raphinha, in addition to Dani Olmo, Gavi, and goalkeepers Juan Garcia and German Marc-André ter Stegen.

Doubts also loom over Ferran Torres's participation in Saturday's match against Girona after he withdrew from the Spanish national team camp due to a muscle injury.
