Khaberni - The National Assembly is nearing its second ordinary session on the twenty-sixth of October, which will witness the election of a new Speaker of the House of Representatives to succeed the current President, Ahmad Al-Safadi, who has announced he will not run for re-election.
Dr. Mustafa Al-Khasawneh, Mazen Al-Qadi, and Ali Al-Khalaileh have officially announced their candidacy for the presidency of the council, while both Dr. Mustafa Al-Amawi and Majhem Al-Saqour have withdrawn in favor of Al-Khasawneh.
Al-Khasawneh enjoys the support of the Change Stream, while Al-Qadi receives support from the National Covenant Party and a number of parliamentary blocs. For its part, the Islamic Action Front party bloc has not yet decided its position, indicating that all options are still open, whether to support one of the candidates or to nominate a candidate from within the bloc.
