Khaberni - The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit that witnessed the signing of the Gaza ceasefire agreement in the region, and described it as the summit that reinstated hope in ending the Gaza tragedy.
Al Yamahi confirmed, in a statement, that this agreement represents a historical step on the path to ending the war, establishing peace, stopping the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people for two years, and closing a painful chapter in human history.
The President of the Arab Parliament praised the pivotal role played by the Arab Republic of Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in sponsoring and hosting the summit and leading the intensive political and diplomatic efforts that led to this agreement.
He affirmed that Egypt has been and continues to be at the forefront of the countries supporting the Palestinian cause and defending the rights of the Palestinian people at regional and international forums.
He also appreciated the efforts made by the United States led by President Donald Trump, in facilitating the success of the agreement, supporting regional efforts to cease fire, and delivering humanitarian and relief aid to the Gaza Strip without restrictions or obstacles, in addition to the persistent efforts of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkey, and the leaders participating in the summit.
Al Yamahi affirmed that the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit represents a milestone in the course of international efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza, a vivid model of Arab and international cooperation to achieve security and stability in the region, and a true beginning to end a long-standing humanitarian tragedy.
He called on the international community to build on this agreement, ensure its implementation, support efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip, and enable the Palestinian National Authority to play its role in managing the sector, paving the way for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
