Khaberni - Kuwait Oil Company, a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, announced a new exploratory achievement in the Kuwaiti maritime area, represented by the discovery of the Jaza offshore natural gas field, which recorded the highest production rate for a vertical well from the Manaqeesh layer in Kuwait's history, as part of the company's ongoing efforts to develop the country’s hydrocarbon resources.
This discovery complements a series of successive successes in offshore exploration, which previously included the discovery of Al-Nokhodha field in July 2024, and Al-Ghale'iya field in January 2025, reflecting substantial progress in offshore exploration operations.
The initial testing results of the Jaza-1 well showed extraordinary production exceeding 29 million cubic feet per day of gas, and more than 5,000 barrels per day of condensates, with the reservoir characterized by a low ratio of carbon dioxide, and free of hydrogen sulfide gas and associated water, making it one of the rare discoveries both environmentally and technologically.
The initial size of the field is estimated at about 40 square kilometers, while estimates indicate the presence of about 1 trillion cubic feet of gas, and more than 120 million barrels of condensates, equivalent to about 350 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company confirmed these figures are preliminary, with potential increases through the expansion of exploration operations in other reservoirs within the field.
The Minister of Oil and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Tareq Suleiman Al-Rumi, stated, “This discovery is a strategic step within the vision of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Kuwait Oil Company for the year 2040, aimed at enhancing national energy security and increasing production, where work is currently underway to accelerate the development of the discovered offshore fields and integrating them into the production system, contributing to the economic growth and providing new job opportunities for national talents.”
Meanwhile, the CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, expressed his pride in this achievement, saying: "These discoveries reflect the technical and professional competence of the national workforce, which has proven its merit in pioneering oil fields, affirming the quality of the Kuwaiti barrel in terms of low emissions, reflecting a strategic long-term vision towards a sustainable economy and a secure energy future."
The President of Kuwait Oil Company, Mr. Ahmad Jaber Al-Eidan, praised the efforts of the company's employees in achieving promising hydrocarbon discoveries, affirming that these achievements are the fruit of embodying the values of excellence, innovation, and teamwork. He confirmed that the company would continue to move towards development and leadership.
