Khaberni - Within the framework of Amman Arab University's commitment to academic excellence and enhancing its leading role in education and pharmaceutical practice, the College of Pharmacy actively participated in the "First Specialized Youth Pharmaceutical Forum in Jordan", held from October 2-4, sponsored by the Regional Office for the International Pharmaceutical Federation (EMROpharm-FIP), in collaboration with the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the Jordanian Pharmacists Association, and with the participation of more than (300) participants including students, academic and professional experts, and decision-makers from inside and outside Jordan, forming a leading platform for the exchange of expertise and visions about the future of the pharmacy profession and the role of youth in its development at the national and regional levels.
Professor Rana Abu Hweij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, represented Amman Arab University at the forum on the first day through her participation in the panel discussion titled "From Education to Pharmaceutical Practice", where she discussed the role of universities in preparing pharmacists for the future amid workforce transitions, and Dr. Abu Hweij stressed the importance of updating academic curricula to align with the requirements of the modern job market, enhancing students' skills in advanced technical fields, and transitioning towards advanced pharmaceutical care to ensure their readiness as competent and innovative professionals in fields of digital pharmacy, artificial intelligence, green pharmacy, drug management, pharmacovigilance, and regulatory affairs, while highlighting the need for integration of efforts among health sectors to secure appropriate job opportunities for graduates, and building national policies and strategies to ensure the continuity and quality of pharmaceutical services.
A group of students from the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University also participated in the forum, including: Baraa Jouda, Aya Shbita, Ziad Khawaldeh, Layan Salamat, Renin Jebaiti, Maria Burhan, and Nours Al-Aani, who represented the university with a sense of responsibility and creativity in the youth sessions, and contributed to the organization and management of the forum's events, offering them a distinctive practical experience in managing specialized conferences at national and regional levels. The forum also witnessed the participation of College of Pharmacy graduates: Pharmacist Islam Dawoud, Pharmacist Farah Dawoud, and Pharmacist Zeina Hajir, who expressed their deep pride in representing Amman Arab University, confirming the added value they gained through direct interaction with experts and decision-makers in the pharmacy sector.
The participating students expressed their great benefit from this experience, which contributed to enhancing communication skills, cultivating leadership spirits and teamwork, and building a wide professional network, in addition to becoming acquainted with the latest developments in the fields of digital pharmacy, biopharmaceuticals, and sustainable pharmaceutical policies.
This high-quality participation confirms that the College of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University is firmly moving towards achieving its vision of graduating leading and creative pharmacists possessing advanced scientific thinking and the ability to make effective contributions to developing the healthcare sector locally and regionally, reflecting the university's commitment to enhancing its presence in international scientific forums, and consolidating its status as a renewing academic environment that combines scientific excellence, community engagement, and leadership in serving the pharmaceutical profession.
