A Popular Drink Forms a Shield Against Fatty Liver Disease

Khaberni - A study conducted by scientists from Kagoshima University in Japan revealed that daily consumption of green tea helps in preventing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Food & Function journal, which published the study results, indicated that consistent consumption of green tea reduces the accumulation of fats in the liver, improves fat metabolism in the body, and restores the balance of gut microbes.

During the experiments, researchers subjected mice to a diet that included daily doses of green tea. The results showed that regular consumption of green tea:

Reduces levels of fats and enzymes associated with liver damage.

Enhances the excretion of triglycerides from the body.

Suppresses the synthesis of fats in liver cells and stimulates enzymes responsible for their breakdown, thanks to the main active component epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).

The scientists also discovered that green tea lowers the level of Firmicutes bacteria in the body, which are often elevated in individuals with obesity and metabolic disorders.

The researchers confirmed that consuming one cup daily of traditionally prepared green tea could be a simple and safe way to prevent non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and related metabolic disorders.

It is noted that scientists from Sichuan University in China recently announced the development of edible microgranules made from green tea and seaweed, indicating that these supplements help burn fat and improve gut function.
