Khaberni - The Jordanian Association for Marathons – Run Jordan, in collaboration with the Traffic Management at the Public Security Directorate, announced the traffic closure and diversion plan to be implemented in the capital, Amman, coinciding with the launch of the Promen Amman Marathon on Friday, October 17, 2025.
The association clarified that the road extending from the new Raghadan complex, passing through Al-Jaysh Street in both directions, Al-Hashemi Square, Quraysh Street, Ali Bin Abi Talib Street to the Muhajirin signals, passing through Omar Matar Street, King Talal Street, and Al-Hashimi Street, will be closed from midnight until noon, within the race tracks of 42 km (individual/relay) and 21 km.
Additionally, Queen Alia Street will be completely closed between the Sports City Roundabout and the Interior Roundabout, including Queen Noor Street between the Interior Roundabout and the Fourth Circle. The closures also include Aqaba bin Nafi Street and Princess Basma Street in full up to Al-Hashemi Square Area, from 6 AM until noon, within the 10 km race path that starts at 9 AM.
The association assured that these measures come in full cooperation with the Traffic Management to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and provide alternative routes that facilitate access to downtown and the western areas of Amman, indicating that the Public Security personnel will be deployed along the race tracks to assist and guide road users and ensure compliance with traffic signals and instructions.
All the arrangements for the traffic plan have been completed, with confirmation on providing all public safety means and alternative roads within the framework of preparations for the launch of the Promen Amman Marathon, which gathers a select group of local and international runners from various age groups.
In this context, Miss Lina Al Kurd, the General Manager of the Jordanian Association for Marathons, confirmed that the integrated coordination with the Public Security Directorate represented by Traffic Management reflects the joint concern to successfully organize the marathon and manage it to the highest standards, indicating that the traffic plan was prepared to ensure the safety of participants and citizens alike, while facilitating traffic flow in various areas of the capital.
Al Kurd added that Promen Amman Marathon has become an annual national sporting event that enhances the image of Jordan as a unique sporting and tourist destination, and enshrines the values of sporting spirit, healthy lifestyle practices, and teamwork that the association strives to instill among all community segments.
