Khaberni - President Donald Trump announced that the United States is aware that Hamas is "rearming itself" to restore order in Gaza, noting that Washington "has given them approval for a period of time".
This came in response to a reporter's question about reports on Hamas rearming and establishing itself as a Palestinian police force and pursuing "opponents".
Trump explained: "We understand, because they really want to stop the troubles. They were clear about it, and we have given them approval for a period of time."
The American president pointed to the human casualties in Gaza, saying: "They lost 60,000 people. That is a great deal of vengeance. Those who are living now were, in many cases, very young when all this started."
He added that the United States has entrusted Hamas with "ensuring that there are no major crimes or some of the problems that occur when you have areas like this that were literally destroyed."
Trump concluded with cautious optimism: "I think things will go well. Who knows for sure, but I think things will go well," referring to the reconstruction and stabilization process in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza Strip announced on Sunday evening that security forces are surrounding and clashing with a militia inside Gaza City that killed displaced people during their return from the south of the sector.
The ministry announced on Sunday morning an open door for repentance and general amnesty for "gang members who did not indulge in murder," in order to finally resolve their legal and security situations.
The ministry clarified that some gangs had taken advantage of the chaos during the war to commit acts outside the law, including encroaching on citizens' properties and looting humanitarian aid, pointing out that some of the gang members had not bloodied their hands.
Later, Palestinian security sources announced that the security forces in Gaza Strip had completely controlled the armed militia in Gaza City, conducting comprehensive sweep operations in their areas of presence.
The sources reported that several of the suspects accused of executing displaced people and collaborating with the occupation were killed during clashes with the militia in Gaza. A Palestinian security force also arrested a number of outlaws after an armed clash in Mawasi Khan Yunis in the south of the sector, and the number of militia members arrested was about 60 individuals, who were transferred to safe locations for further investigation.
