Khaberni - Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said, Sunday, that after the return of the detainees, Israel's big challenge will be to make sure all of the tunnels of the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip are destroyed, either directly, or through an international mechanism that would be established under the leadership and supervision of the United States.

Katz added in a post on the "X" platform that "this is the main implication of implementing the agreed-upon principle of disarming Gaza and depriving Hamas of its weapons."

He confirmed that he has instructed the army to prepare to execute the task.

Israel and "Hamas", on Thursday, signed an agreement in Sharm el-Sheikh that paved the way for ending the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip for two years, including a ceasefire and the exchange of Israeli detainees for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

However, the draft agreement did not include reference to some of the points in President Trump's plan, which in its twenty points, stipulated the disarmament of (Hamas), and that an international transitional administration (Peace Council), headed by Trump himself, would govern the Gaza Strip after the end of the war.

Trump mentioned that the issue of Hamas handing over its weapons will be addressed in the second phase of the peace plan, which is said to be more challenging.
