Khaberni - Justice Minister Bassam Talhouni said on Sunday that work is ongoing to complete the implementation of digital signatures at the Amman Court Palace, where the number of digitally signed judicial documents and memos has reached about 19,000 since the launch of the service on September 17 in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
Talhouni affirmed that the digital signature is in line with the directives of His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, the Crown Prince, and within the framework of the efforts of the National Council for Future Technology to improve the quality of public services and facilitate transaction procedures for citizens, and to move forward with the economic and administrative reform plan pursued by the government.
He noted that the Ministry of Justice is progressing in the digital transformation plan, which allows the use of modern technologies that contribute to facilitating and shortening procedures, positively reflecting on the service recipients, as the current use of digital signatures in compliance with the regulating legislations directly contributes to developing court procedures because the used technology is secure and provides guarantees for verifying the documents and memos through developing a Quick Response (QR) code on memos that can be verified through the "Sanad" application.
He pointed out that the "Verify Digital Document" service is available on the Ministry of Justice's electronic services portal, which allows users to verify the authenticity of all digitally signed documents.
Talhouni explained that the second phase, which will begin after amending the necessary legislation during the next regular session, will constitute a qualitative shift in the development of judicial procedures for all parties involved in litigation, especially regarding trials, records, decisions, filing of lists, and work is currently underway on developing and re-engineering the procedures related to case management, mediation processes, and organizing the witness hearing process.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Justice will launch notary services during the upcoming period, allowing the conducting of notary transactions remotely without regard to geographical jurisdiction, and making improvements on all services to align with enabling service recipients to use digital signatures through the electronic services provided by the ministry.
He indicated that the government is keen on developing and improving government services, and that the launch of the digital signature complements the digital transformation plan of the Ministry of Justice, which last year launched its updated portal for electronic services with 57 electronic services, and by the end of this year, the number of these services will reach 100 electronic services, which is expected to significantly reduce the number of court visitors.
