Khaberni - The spokesman for the Fatah movement, Abdel Fattah Doleh, stated that the statements of the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas confirm that "our people want peace, not surrender".
Doleh, on Friday evening, stated: "We speak of peace, especially after many countries have recognized the Palestinian state".
He also added that "the Palestinian Authority's reform plan includes various sectors to present ourselves as a state", according to Al Arabiya channel.
Reforms in health and security
This comes after the Palestinian President announced on Thursday that the Authority had begun the reforms it had pledged to the United States, while thanking his American counterpart Donald Trump for his efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.
Abbas emphasized in an interview with Israeli Channel 12 in Ramallah, the continuation of the reforms "until reaching a solid authority capable of continuing to lead the Palestinian people".
He also explained that the reforms will be implemented in health and security, and will be executed to make the authority a model to be emulated.
"A very great day"
Commenting on the ceasefire agreement in Gaza announced by the United States, the Palestinian President said that "what happened today was a very great day".
He also expressed hope for peace and security to prevail between Palestine and Israel, pointing out that recognizing the Palestinian state aims to enhance peace.
Gaza Agreement
It should be noted that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas went into effect on Friday noon in Gaza.
The Israeli army stated in a statement: "The ceasefire agreement came into effect at 12:00 PM", adding that "since 12.00 (9.00 GMT), the Israeli army forces began positioning on their new deployment lines in preparation for the implementation of the truce agreement and the return of the hostages".
However, it warned at the same time that several areas are still "extremely dangerous" for civilians.
For his part, a civil defense official in Gaza reported that Israeli forces began withdrawing from several areas in the sector, especially from Gaza City and Khan Yunis.
About 200,000 civilians have returned to the north of the devastated sector since the ceasefire came into effect, according to the civil defense in Gaza.
53% under Israeli control
The American president announced on Wednesday evening, the agreement between Israel and Hamas on the first phase of the ceasefire plan in Gaza and the exchange of prisoners, after days of indirect negotiations held in Sharm el-Sheikh under the sponsorship of mediators (Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, with Turkish participation), which represented a glimmer of hope for thousands of Palestinians trapped in Gaza in ending the devastating war continuing for two years.
While approximately 53% of the Gaza Strip will remain under Israeli control, to be followed later in the second phase of Trump's plan, withdrawing from the rest of the areas up to the buffer line along the sector, which is estimated to be about 15% of Gaza.
