Remote Robotic Surgery Between Two Hospitals in Kuwait

Khaberni - In a first-of-its-kind step in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti medical teams achieved a new accomplishment by performing the first remote robotic surgery on a patient in Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, while the surgical robot was controlled from Jahra Hospital, through an integrated system of secure communication and advanced technologies.

The head of the Women's Oncology Unit at Jaber Hospital, Dr. Wafaa Al-Duwaisan, in a statement to Kuwait Television from the control device in Jahra Hospital, expressed her pride in participating in this historic event, noting that the operation "represents the first robotic surgery conducted between two hospitals within the country, on a patient suffering from gynecological tumors."

Al-Duwaisan explained that this achievement embodies the significant effort made by the Kuwaiti medical teams in developing healthcare services and keeping pace with the latest global technologies in medicine and surgery, confirming the Ministry of Health's commitment to providing the best treatment services for citizens and residents.

She pointed out that the robotic operation was entirely executed by national teams known for their high competence, following a series of precise trials that preceded the practical application, affirming that studies have proven the safety and superiority of this type of surgery over many traditional surgical methods.
