Khaberni - In a daring confession, George Clooney revealed details about his dark past with drugs and alcohol during his early days in Hollywood, confirming that he has surpassed that stage towards a healthy life.
In a candid and surprising interview with "Esquire" magazine, the international star George Clooney talked about a period in his life when he lived through harsh experiences with drugs and alcohol during his early years in Hollywood, revealing details he had never discussed before about that chaotic and dangerous phase.
The 64-year-old American actor said that at the beginning of his artistic career, he attended parties "where drugs were the real hero," adding, "I was at a party one day and tried a strange mix of cocaine mixed with a child's laxative... everyone took it and then rushed to the bathroom. It was utterly ridiculous."
Clooney explained that the cocaine experience made him quickly realize that this path leads only to regret, stating, "I thought it was less dangerous than heroin, but after a short while, I discovered it was very bad, and it never suited me at all."
He also recounted one of his strangest experiences when he smoked marijuana with a group of friends, and they decided to make a cake containing it before watching the movie The Wizard of Oz in a private screening room: "We sat for hours without talking, in a state of complete unconsciousness.. It was a miserable situation."
Speaking about the alcohol phase, Clooney acknowledged that he went through periods where he drank almost daily, saying, "After the Tony Awards party when I didn’t win any award for the movie Good Night, and Good Luck, I got drunk as if I was a teenager."
But he confirmed that this phase was a turning point in his life, as he decided to stop these habits and commit to a healthy and balanced lifestyle. He added, "Today I exercise daily, and I care about my physical fitness.. My arms are now twice the size they were before, and I feel I am in the best shape of my life in years."
