Khaberni - For the first time since addressing him, the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump revealed the manner in which Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to her message.
In August last year, the First Lady sent a message to Putin concerning the children of Ukraine.
She said, on Friday, that she opened a line of open communication with President Putin in order to return the children stuck in the Ukrainian war, noting that some of them returned to their families while others will return soon.
She added to the journalists at the White House that "this effort is still ongoing," explaining that Putin responded to her message earlier this year, and that communication between them is still ongoing.
She said: "I have opened a channel of open communication with President Putin regarding the care of these children... and over the past months, the two sides have participated in several unofficial meetings and communications."
She added that her representative is working directly with Putin's team to ensure the children are safely returned to their families, noting that eight children were returned to their relatives in the past twenty-four hours.
President Donald Trump had personally delivered his wife's message during his meeting with Putin in Alaska, where she invited him to protect the "innocence" of children and "care for the hope of the next generation" amidst his ongoing war on Ukraine.
Melania Trump stated in the message: "We must strive to create a world that enjoys dignity for all, so that every soul wakes up to peace, and the future itself is completely preserved. A simple, yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, and I am sure you agree with me, is that the descendants of each generation begin their lives pure — an innocence that transcends geography, governance, and ideology."
She added that Putin "alone can restore the sweet laughter of children."
