Will Science Soon Uncover the Secret Behind Sudden Death and the Connection Between the Brain and Heart

Khaberni - Incidents of sudden death, which occur without any prior medical indicators that announce or warn of its approach, have been frequent, particularly among young people. Why, then, has science still not been able to detect signs or warnings?

Science has observed a new phenomenon that was not previously considered important: In the final minutes before sudden death or unexplained cardiac arrest, it is the brain, not the heart, that is crucial. In an experiment conducted by a scientific team from the University of Michigan on mice, scientists observed heart and brain activity just before their death through monitoring the lack of oxygen in the blood and body, finding that the brain sends a flood of signals to the heart, which then completely stops. Interestingly, blocking these signals allowed the mice to survive. Therefore, there is hope in the coming days that methods and medications will be developed to recognize this moment and block these signals, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of lives.

Until now, the known causes of sudden death include the following: - Genetic mutations: Danish scientists have recorded results from experiments proving that a certain genetic mutation is responsible for producing a protein that acts as a sensitive device for measuring calcium ions in the body, and these ions are responsible for some imbalance in the concentration of calcium in the body, which disrupts the heart's electricity in some way leading to its cessation.

- Hereditary hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: This has been extensively studied as a cause of heart muscle cessation among athletes and young adults up to the age of thirty.

- Anomalies in the coronary arteries lead to acute deficiency in blood flow to the heart muscle during some form of physical effort, resulting in sudden cardiac arrest.

- Acquired or inherited electrical disturbances in the heart lead to an irregular heartbeat, whether speeding up or slowing down, which can result in fainting and eventually death.

Indeed, sudden death is still one of the medical issues that often precedes human intervention by God's will. But what needs to be done if someone experiences this while in the presence of others? Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is now a plan studied in many medical and social centers in Canada, America, and now also in Egypt.
