Khaberni - French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that the expansion of settlement construction in the West Bank contradicts the plan of U.S. President Donald Trump announced by the White House on Monday, September 29, 2025, which consists of 20 points aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

Macron confirmed during his attendance at a ministerial meeting in the French capital, Paris, regarding the implementation of the American peace plan aimed at ending the war on Gaza, that the "acceleration" of settlement activity constitutes an "existential threat" to a Palestinian state.

He pointed out that the issue of settlement construction is not related to Hamas, stressing that the coming hours will be crucial in the efforts to establish peace in the Gaza Strip.

Macron clarified that France is ready to play an active role in stabilizing the force in Gaza, but did not provide specific details on the potential role his country could play within this force.

He confirmed that the conference aims to work in parallel with the American initiative.

The meeting is attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, and foreign ministers from the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Indonesia, the French Republic, the Kingdom of Spain, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Italy, the United Kingdom, representatives from the United Arab Emirates, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Canada, and the European Union.

France sees this meeting as an opportunity to obtain concrete commitments regarding lasting peace and a two-state solution.

Hamas and Israel reached an agreement on Thursday to cease fire in the Gaza Strip and release detainees in the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners under the U.S. President’s plan to end the two-year ongoing war.
