Saudi Arabia Welcomes Ceasefire in Gaza and Emphasizes the Need for Comprehensive Peace

Khaberni - Saudi Arabia welcomed the agreement reached regarding the cessation of war in the Gaza Strip and the start of the implementation of the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal aimed at calming and preparing the atmosphere towards a comprehensive and just peace path.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its statement issued today, Thursday, appreciated the effective role played by the U.S. President, and the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey in reaching this agreement. It praised the mediation efforts that contributed to achieving this significant step towards ending the war.

Saudi Arabia emphasized that this step represents the beginning of a process towards alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in preparation for the full withdrawal of Israeli forces and the restoration of security and stability in the region, calling for successive steps to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Saudi Arabia clarified that its vision stems from the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant United Nations resolutions, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and its capital in East Jerusalem. It reaffirmed its support for all international efforts aimed at peacefully resolving the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution.
