Khaberni - In a shocking incident that shook the political circles in Germany, the authorities revealed their suspicion that the daughter of Iris Schtalzr, the newly elected mayor of Herdecke, was involved in the crime of stabbing her mother inside the family home in the city of Herdecke, west of the country.
According to what was announced by the public prosecutor's office in the city of Hagen, Schtalzr, who is 57 years old, identified during the investigation that her 17-year-old daughter was the one who attacked her with a knife inside the house.
The crime occurred the day before yesterday, Tuesday, inside the house of the mayor who was preparing to officially take over her duties next month. The radio station "WDR" mentioned that Schtalzr crawled with difficulty towards the house door after being stabbed several times in the neck and abdomen, before being airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.
The German newspaper "Bild" reported that a neighbor who heard screaming called the police, and Schtalzr was found covered in her blood, while her teenage daughter and son were detained for questioning.
The public prosecutor Bernd Haldron clarified that the suspected daughter will not be placed in pretrial detention, as there are not sufficient legal reasons for this, adding that investigations are still ongoing to determine the real motives for the incident.
Haldron said that the case is currently classified as causing serious bodily injury and not as an attempted murder, noting that the focus should be on psychologically supporting the family after this tragedy. In turn, Hagen police chief Ursula Schönberg confirmed that the mayor is now out of danger, and her health condition is continuously improving.
Iris Schtalzr, 57 years old, is a lawyer specializing in labor cases, and one of the prominent figures in local politics in North Rhine-Westphalia, and was preparing to officially assume her position in November after her overwhelming victory in the recent elections with support from the Green Party.
