Khaberni - Real Madrid and Brazil defender Eder Militao admitted that he contemplated retiring from football permanently after his second ACL injury.
Eder Militao shared his struggles over the past two years, after having sustained two serious knee injuries.
The Brazilian star did not hide his feelings, telling reporters at the national team camp "Selecao": "After the second injury, I thought about quitting football. It was not easy at all, I felt like I had lost myself. To go through all this pain twice is unimaginable to anyone."
The player, who was absent from the fields for more than 400 days, added in statements published by "Marca" newspaper: "At many moments, I could not see an end to this nightmare. But my family, my wife, and my daughter were always by my side, giving me the strength to continue."
The Real Madrid defender continued: "Thanks to them, and thanks to my faith in God, I am here today, stronger than ever. The journey to recovery was not only physical but also a bitter psychological struggle against loneliness and despair."
Militao mentioned: "You are deprived of the routine you love, from training and from the pitch, you find yourself at home. Depending on others even for the simplest things was a harsh experience, but I learned a lot from it. Thankfully, I returned to the top level, and that was never easy."
The Brazil national team will be playing two friendly matches during the international break against South Korea and Japan.
