FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers Which teams are likely to qualify in October

Khaberni - The number of qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in football will increase in October, with the qualifying rounds in various continental federations nearing completion.

By the end of 2025, the identities of 42 out of 48 participants in the World Cup will be known, with playoffs determining the remaining qualifiers.

The following are the qualification probabilities for teams that have already secured their place among the 18 teams, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, which will host the tournament next year.

Africa

- Egypt will qualify on Wednesday if they defeat Djibouti in Casablanca or if Burkina Faso fails to win against Sierra Leone.

- Algeria will qualify on Thursday if they defeat Somalia in Oran, or if they draw with Somalia and both Uganda and Mozambique fail to win, or if Uganda and Mozambique lose.

- Ghana will qualify if they beat Central African Republic and Madagascar fails to defeat Comoros.

- Ivory Coast will qualify if they beat Seychelles and Gabon loses against Gambia.

- Senegal will qualify if they beat South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo fails to defeat Togo.

CONCACAF

- Honduras will qualify on October 14 if they win against Costa Rica and Haiti, with the matches between Nicaragua and Haiti and Costa Rica and Nicaragua ending in draws.

- Jamaica will qualify if they beat Curaçao and Bermuda and Curaçao fail to defeat Trinidad and Tobago, and Trinidad and Tobago do not win their matches against Bermuda and Curaçao.

Asia

After six teams have qualified so far, six other teams will play in the fourth round in Doha and Jeddah between the 8th and 14th of this month.

Qatar, the UAE, and Oman are in the first group, while Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Indonesia are in the second group, playing for each group winner to advance to the World Cup, with the second place teams facing off in a fifth stage in November which leads to the playoffs.

Europe

October is likely to see the announcement of the first qualifiers from the European qualifiers, but this will be subject to strict conditions.

- Croatia will qualify on the 12th of this month if they beat Czech Republic and Gibraltar, while Czech Republic fails to defeat Faroe Islands. If they beat Czech Republic and draw with Gibraltar, and Czech Republic loses against Faroe Islands.

- France will qualify if they beat Azerbaijan and Iceland, and Iceland draws with Ukraine. If they beat Azerbaijan and Iceland, and Iceland loses against Ukraine, and Ukraine fails to defeat Azerbaijan.

- Slovakia will qualify on October 13 if they beat Northern Ireland and Luxembourg, and Germany fails to defeat Luxembourg, and the match between Northern Ireland and Germany ends in a draw.

- Switzerland will qualify if they beat Sweden and Slovenia, and Kosovo fails to win against Slovenia and Sweden.

- England will guarantee qualification on the 14th if they beat Latvia, and Serbia does not win in their matches against Albania and Andorra. If Serbia draws with Latvia and then fails to defeat Andorra.

- Norway will qualify if it defeats Israel, and Italy fails to win in any of its matches against Estonia and Israel.

- Portugal will qualify if they overcome Ireland and Hungary, and Armenia fails to win against Hungary and Ireland.

- Spain will qualify if they beat Georgia and Bulgaria, and Turkey fails to defeat Bulgaria, and the match between Turkey and Georgia ends in a draw.
