Khaberni - Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of Vatican City, warned that "the world may get used to the massacre" in the Gaza Strip.
Parolin added in his remarks to journalists today, Monday, that the consequences of the war on Gaza are "catastrophic and inhumane," and it is not enough for the international community to state that what is happening is unacceptable and then continue to allow it to happen.
Parolin described the situation in Gaza today as "more dangerous and tragic than last year, after a devastating war that claimed tens of thousands of lives," noting that there are people being killed while searching for a piece of bread, people being buried under the rubble of their homes, or being bombed in hospitals and camps, and the displaced are forced to move from one place to another in a cramped and crowded land.
He emphasized that "it is unacceptable and unjustified to reduce humans to just 'collateral victims,'" stressing that "two peoples in two states" remains the solution to the conflict in the Middle East, but we cannot help but note with concern that the Israeli statements and decisions are moving in the opposite direction.. meaning that they intend to prevent the birth of a real Palestinian state forever".
