Khaberni - The executive board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has overwhelmingly elected Dr. Khaled El-Enany, the candidate from the Arab Republic of Egypt, as Director-General during the elections held today, Monday.
Dr. Khaled El-Enany is the first Egyptian and Arab, and the second African to assume the position of Director-General of UNESCO, a historic achievement that reflects the international stature and influence of Egyptian foreign policy according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
55 out of a total of 57 member countries of the executive board elected Dr. Khaled El-Enany to lead the organization, the highest number of votes received by a candidate for the position of Director-General in competitive elections since its establishment in 1945.
