Dangerous Prank Leads French Influencer to Jail

Khaberni - The Paris Criminal Court issued its ruling against the French influencer Amin Moujito, sentencing him to 12 months in prison, six months of which he actually spent in detention, while the court suspended the execution of the other half of the sentence, after he was accused of harassment and threats, in addition to his previous criminal record.

According to "Free Press Journal," the decision came in the wake of videos Moujito posted on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, in which he would approach passersby and pretend to inject them with an empty syringe.

Although the syringe was devoid of any harmful substance, the pranks caused panic among the victims and sparked widespread criticism on social media.

The prosecution considered during the court sessions that Moujito's actions constituted harassment and deliberate provocation, and one of the lawyers described the defendant as posing a danger to the public.

The judiciary also revealed that the influencer had a legal history including previous charges of assault and harassment.

During the trial, Moujito defended himself by stating that the goal of the videos was to entertain and make people laugh, but he admitted that he had overestimated the impact of the pranks and underestimated the fear they caused the victims.

Some victims testified that they felt real terror at the thought of being injected with the syringe, especially given the prevailing global health concerns, while Moujito acknowledged that if someone else were in the same situation, they would feel the same fear.
