Khaberni - A new study has revealed the balanced ratio between the number of cups of water, coffee, and tea consumed daily that provides the best health benefits. Researchers stated that maintaining this balance of fluids is linked to a reduced risk of death from all causes.
According to "Medical News Today", while some necessary water can be obtained from certain foods, a new study found that replacing some of the daily water intake with coffee and tea can lead to a longer lifespan.
In the study, a research team from Southern Medical University in Guangdong, China, observed that to achieve these benefits, people had to drink 7-8 beverages daily, with a balanced intake of coffee, tea, and water.
The researchers used data from about 183,000 individuals from the UK Biobank records. The participants filled out several surveys to recall their dietary regime over a 24-hour period, through which the researchers determined their usual daily consumption of coffee, tea, and plain water.
The researchers followed the participants for approximately 13 years, during which they recorded illness instances and the cause of death for anyone who died during the follow-up period.
The Ideal Ratio
The researchers noted that those who consumed beverages in a ratio of 3 cups of water to 2 cups of coffee and tea achieved the greatest reduction in death risk.
The study found that those who consumed 7-8 drinks daily, including a mix of coffee, tea, and plain water, had a 28% reduced risk of death from any cause compared to those who consumed fewer than 4 drinks daily.
